Answers to Questions — PCB Mounting and Assembling
What should be provided in order to start PCB assembling cooperation with PACIFIC?
1. PCB layout (or overall dimensions) in any format convenient for you with indication of PCB material and thickness, required coating and gold-plating;
2. Product specifications and assembly drawing;
3. Quantity of products per non-repeat (single) or annual order (indicating desirable delivery breakdown);
4. You estimated price for a product (desirable for gaining the price desired by you).
Who supplies components for assembling PCBs – a customer or PACIFIC?
— All components needed for assembling printed circuit boards assembly are supplied by us in compliance with the product specifications provided by a customer.
Can PCBs be assembled using components supplied by a customer?
— No
How does PACIFIC buy electronic components for assembling PCBs?
— Being one of the largest companies in Taiwan we have direct access to the local offices of manufacturing companies and electronic components warehouses, which allows us to promptly purchase components needed for product contract assembly as optimum prices.
What should be done if domestic components are used in a product?
— Unfortunately in Taiwan we cannot purchase a given domestically produced component. This is why our engineers in Russia help to select the imported equivalent. However, if only a domestically produced component shall be used for assembling a product we are ready to consider separate delivery of such component to Taiwan.
What should be done if preliminary programmed microchips shall be used in a product?
— If a customer provides us with a software to be installed in a particular microchip we perform this operation free of charge subject to availability of a signed contract.
What does the contract assembly price offered by PACIFIC include?
— The price offered to a customer is inclusive of 18%VAT and consists of the cost of a PCB and electronic components as well as the cost of assembling and the cost of delivery of the finished product to a customer.
Does PACIFIC accept orders for manufacturing of just one piece of a product?
— At present our company is one of the largest PCB manufacturers in the South-East Asia. Monthly output exceeds 6,000,000 dm2 PCBs. Production capacity of mounting machines is over 1.5 million components per hour. Unfortunately, such scope of production makes production of a single piece of ordered product cost-ineffective.
What production volume is sufficient for PACIFIC to start contract assembly?
— Any volume if cooperation prospects are good.
How does PACIFIC address the detective products issue?
— PACIFIC provides 100% guarantee for the quality of both assembly and all components mounted on a PCB. In rare cases when defective products are detected we guarantee 100% compensation or 100% replacement of defective products by good PCBs without any delays and negotiations.
What is the cost per soldering point in PACIFIC?
— The contract manufacturing culture in the South-East Asia differs significantly from the situation a customer faces in Russia. Some companies make component supply their specialty, other companies hold more strong positions in supplying PCBs, while third companies would like to use recently purchased machines for mounting components …
However, we are interested in the entire customer’s project. That is why we do not split the contract assembly process into stages. Therefore, if a customer wishes to reduce the cost of the entire product we are ready to help him by offering a competitive price, acceptable timeframe and high quality.
How is safety of finished products ensured during transportation and storage?
— Because of remote production we pay special attention to safety of finished products during their transportation from Taiwan. Therefore, each product is packed in an individual air-bubble antistatic package. Products are delivered from Taiwan in boxes with cardboard partitions. Number of products in each box is strictly specified depending on useful volume.
Does PACIFIC produce cables and wires?
— PACIFIC mounts all types on cables and wires on PCBs in compliance with a customer’s design.
Does PACIFIC apply water-proof coating on electronic modules?
— If it is necessary to apply a water-proof coating to an electronic module we provide this service to our customers as one of the final stages of contract assembly. LOCTITE 3900TM water-proof coatings (the equivalent of the domestic UR-231 varnish) used by us protect electronic modules from malfunction. However, we can additionally negotiate application of a customer-selected type of varnish on an electronic module.
What is the delivery schedule when placing an order with PACIFIC?
— Because of remote production more stringent requirements for quality of contract assembly are imposed on us, since we need to ensure 100% product yield with the first delivery!
If a customer provides validated specifications and a PCB sample, an average time of medium scale serial production and delivery does not exceed 8~10 weeks. However, our experience shows that a large-scale serial production requires more thorough project preparation and management (looking for more favorable component purchase timelines and prices, proposing and approving replacements, selecting delivery type). That is why production and delivery timelines under each project are negotiated individually.
Where is it cheaper to manufacture and assemble PCBs: if an order is placed in Russia or directly in Taiwan?
— We do not operate through dealers and intermediaries but through our own PACIFIC offices in Russia opened for convenience of our customers. Therefore, prices for manufacturing and assembling of PCBs ordered in Russian offices are the same as for those ordered at the PACIFIC headquarters in Taiwan. It is up to you to decide, whom with it is more convenient for you to work. However our experience shows that it is easier to work with the Russian offices. You gain additional advantage of free delivery of finished products to any place in Russia.
